Janine Austin Clayton MD will speak at Upstate for Elizabeth Blackwell Day at noon Feb. 20. Her topic is “Putting Science to Work for Women’s Health – The Next Generation.”
Dr. Clayton, an ophthalmologist, is Director of Research on Women’s Health at the National Institutes of Health. She is the author of more than 80 scientific purlibcations, journal articles and book chapters. Her research interests include autoimmune diseases and the role of sex and gender in health and disease. Clayton discovered a novel form of ocular surface disease that is associated with premature ovarian insufficiency, which affects young women.
Clayton’s presentation takes place in the Alumni Memorial Auditorium in Weiskotten Hall, with a reception afterward in the Setnor Atrium.
